Sports can be both physically and mentally competitive. They relieve stress, give you the necessary cardiovascular exercise people need to remain healthy and develop a specific skill. Sports are also a reflection of different countries. Here are some examples of sports and where people tend to mostly play them
Baseball – Generally an American sport it is also extremely popular in latin parts of the Caribbean as well as Central and South American. Japan is also very big on baseball.
Soccer – A world game. No matter where you travel to people play soccer. It is cheap to pickup and fun to play.
Hockey – Game originated in Canada but extremely popular in Scandinavian countries as well as Russia and Czech Republic.
Cricket – Popular amongst Commonwealth countries like India, Australia, England, West Indies as well as other countries like Sri Lanka and Pakistan.
Sports today are a major business. Billions of dollars in revenue are produced from tickets sales, corporate sponsorships, licensing and broadcasting. The top athletes are earning millions per year. Some of the highest earners are athletes like Michael Shumacher and Tiger Woods. Compared to a few decades ago, a greater level of professionalism is obvious in organized sports. With so much money at stake, today’s elite athletes will go to great lengths to say the right things to keep away from insulting their corporate sponsors.
